About Cruz Del Sur Ship Reef

Cruz Del Sur Ship Reef is an artificial reef off Miami in the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters, where a sunken vessel creates hard structure that holds reef and pelagic fish. Spring and early summer bring the busiest bottom action, with Mutton Snapper peaking April through June and Yellowtail Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Common Snook all peaking May through July. Mutton and Gray Snapper respond to bottom fishing near the hull with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid. Yellowtail Snapper rise into a chum slick built from frozen chum blocks and glass minnows. From November through March, King Mackerel patrol the wreck and take live goggle eyes or blue runners on slow trolling passes, while Crevalle Jack roam the structure through the year.
