About Site D Reef
Site D Reef is an artificial reef in Florida's Atlantic state waters off the Miami coast, part of the Southeast Region's network of deployed structure. The reef draws a mix of snapper and pelagic species. Yellowtail Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Common Snook peak from May through July, and Mutton Snapper peak from April through June. King Mackerel take over the winter calendar from November through March, and Crevalle Jack roam the structure alongside them. Anglers chum with frozen chum blocks and glass minnows to raise yellowtail off the reef and fish cut bait, live pilchards, or squid on the bottom for gray and mutton snapper, while slow trolling live goggle eyes, blue runners, or pilchards around the structure targets kingfish in the cooler months.
