About Collier Bay
Collier Bay is a protected inner bay off Naples, Florida, where a mud bottom sits in 5 to 10 feet of water within the Southwest Region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Sheepshead lead the winter season from January through March, while spotted seatrout peak from February through April and Spanish mackerel move through in March and April and again from September through November. Common snook peak from April through July and tarpon run from March through August, with gray snapper peaking from May through July and red drum taking over in September and October. The sheltered mud basin suits live bait fishing with live pilchards, pinfish and live shrimp for snook and red drum, and bottom fishing with fiddler crabs and sand fleas works for sheepshead. For seatrout, anglers drift with soft plastic paddle tails on jigheads or fish live shrimp under a popping cork across the shallower stretches of the bay.
