About Coon Key Pass
Coon Key Pass is a protected sand-bottom corridor near Naples, Florida, running 10 to 15 feet deep through the inner waters of the Southwest Florida Gulf region. Sheepshead lead the winter action from January through March, while spotted seatrout peak from February through April and Spanish mackerel move through in March–April and again from September through November. Common snook and tarpon carry the warm months, with snook peaking April through July and tarpon from March through August, as gray snapper peak May through July and red drum take over in September and October. The channel's consistent depth suits bottom fishing with live shrimp and fiddler crabs for sheepshead and gray snapper. Live bait fishing with live pilchards, pinfish, and mullet targets snook, red drum, and tarpon moving along the corridor.
