About Smokehouse Bay
Smokehouse Bay is a protected inner bay near Naples, Florida, with a soft mud bottom and depths running 5 to 10 feet. Red drum peak here in September and October, while common snook hold from April through July and tarpon move through from March to August. Spotted seatrout peak from February to April, sheepshead peak from January to March, and gray snapper peak from May to July. Spanish mackerel arrive in March and April and again from September to November. Live bait fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, and pinfish covers the redfish, snook, and seatrout across the bay's sheltered mud basin. Sheepshead respond to bottom fishing with fiddler crabs and live shrimp.
