About Bruce Beach Pier

Bruce Beach Pier is a public fishing pier on the downtown Pensacola waterfront, set within the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Sheepshead lead the winter season from January through March, when bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, or oysters works the pier's structure. Spotted seatrout peak March through May and again in October and November, and live shrimp under a popping cork is a natural fit from the rail. Spanish mackerel run April through October and gray snapper peak May through August, with mackerel taking metal jigs, gotcha plugs, and small spoons and snapper taking live shrimp or cut bait fished on the bottom. Red drum close out the year with a September–October peak on live finger mullet, cut mullet, or gold spoons, and common snook round out the pier's species list.
