About Charles Fennell Gonzalez IV Snorkel Reef
Charles Fennell Gonzalez IV Snorkel Reef is an artificial reef off Pensacola, Florida, within the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel both peak from April through October, Cobia run March through June, and Gray Snapper peak from May through August. Gag Grouper take over from October through December, and Sheepshead hold on the structure from January through March. Gray Snapper and Sheepshead respond to bottom fishing tight to the reef, with live shrimp and cut bait for snapper and fiddler crabs or sand fleas for sheepshead. Around the reef's edges, anglers troll small spoons and straw rigs for Spanish Mackerel and sight cast bucktail jigs or live eels to cruising Cobia.
