About CSX Rubble Reef

CSX Rubble Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida. The reef holds Red Grouper and Gag Grouper, with gag peaking from October through December, while Red Snapper peak from April through August and Gray Snapper from May through August. King Mackerel patrol the area from April through October, and Greater Amberjack peak in April and May. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, cigar minnows, squid, or cut bait is the dominant approach for the snapper and grouper. Slow trolling live cigar minnows or blue runners targets the kings, and live hardtails or vertical jigging with butterfly jigs work for amberjack.
