About Tug Ocean Wind Reef
Tug Ocean Wind Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf State Waters off Pensacola, part of the Panhandle Region's network of placed structure. Sheepshead hold tight to the reef from January through March, and Gag Grouper peak from October through December. Cobia move through from March to June, while King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel both run from April through October. Gray Snapper peak from May through August. Bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas works the structure for Sheepshead, and live pinfish or live cigar minnows dropped to the reef target Gag Grouper and Gray Snapper. Above the reef, slow trolling live cigar minnows or live menhaden draws King Mackerel, and trolling small spoons and straw rigs covers the water for Spanish Mackerel.
