About Fishing Bend
Fishing Bend is a protected inner-bay spot near Pensacola, Florida, where a sand bottom slopes through depths of 10 to 25 feet in sheltered water. Red Drum peak here in September and October and respond to inshore casting with jigheads with paddletails, gold spoons, and topwater plugs, while popping cork fishing with live shrimp works over the shallower sand. Sheepshead take over from January through March, and anglers target them with bottom fishing rigs baited with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or live shrimp. Gray Snapper hold in the deeper sections from May through August and take live shrimp, live pinfish, and cut bait fished on the bottom. Spanish Mackerel run from April through October and hit small spoons and straw rigs on the troll or metal jigs and gotcha plugs cast into feeding schools, and Common Snook also appear on the target list.
