About Fishing Pier
Fishing Pier is a fixed pier structure on the Pensacola, Florida shoreline, within the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Sheepshead lead the calendar from January through March, and anglers work the pilings by bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, and oysters. Spotted seatrout peak in March through May and again in October and November, when live shrimp or live pinfish under popping corks draw strikes along the pier's edges. Spanish mackerel run from April through October and respond to casting metal jigs, small spoons, and bucktail jigs, while gray snapper hold around the structure from May through August and take live shrimp and cut bait fished on the bottom. Red drum peak in September and October, with inshore casting of soft plastic jerkbaits, paddletails on jigheads, and gold spoons covering the water around the pier, and common snook also appear on the target list.
