About Sherman Cove
Sherman Cove is a protected inner bay pocket off Pensacola Bay in the Florida Panhandle, with a sand bottom running from 10 to 25 feet deep. Red Drum peak in September and October, when inshore casting with gold spoons, paddletail jigheads, and topwater plugs covers the sandy flats and edges. Sheepshead take over from January through March, and anglers bottom fish fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp. Gray Snapper peak from May through August and respond to live shrimp, live pinfish, and cut bait fished on the bottom. Spanish Mackerel run from April through October, and anglers target them by casting metal jigs, gotcha plugs, and small spoons, while Common Snook round out the species mix in the cove.
