About Navarre Sound Side Snorkel Reef West

Navarre Sound Side Snorkel Reef West is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf State Waters of the Panhandle Region near Pensacola, where placed structure concentrates bait and predators along the sound side. Sheepshead stack on the reef from January through March and respond to bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, and oysters fished tight to the structure. Gray Snapper take over from May through August, holding close to the reef for live shrimp, cut bait, live pinfish, and squid on the bottom, with chumming drawing them up off the cover. Spotted Seatrout peak March through May and again in October and November, and Red Drum move through in September and October, when bottom jigging soft plastic grubs on jigheads and casting paddletails or gold spoons around the reef edges produce strikes. Spanish Mackerel cruise the area from April through October and hit metal jigs, small spoons, and bucktail jigs cast around the reef, while Common Snook round out the species list at this site.
