About Redfish Point
Redfish Point is an exposed sand flat on the Pensacola shoreline in Florida's Panhandle state waters, with depths running from the shallows out to 20 feet. Red Drum are the namesake target and peak in September and October, when inshore casting with soft plastic jerkbaits, paddletail jigheads, gold spoons, and topwater plugs covers the open sand. Popping cork fishing with live shrimp also produces Red Drum. Spanish Mackerel push across the deeper edge from April through October and fall to trolled small spoons and straw rigs or cast metal jigs and gotcha plugs, while Gray Snapper peak from May through August on live shrimp and cut bait fished on the bottom. Sheepshead take over from January through March on fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp, and Common Snook round out the species list on the flat.
