About Clearwater C Reef

Clearwater C Reef is an artificial reef in the Gulf of Mexico off the Pinellas County coast, within the Tampa Bay Region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Its structure holds Sheepshead from January through March, while Cobia move through in March–April and again in September–October. King Mackerel peak March–May and August–October, and Spanish Mackerel run March–May and September–October. Gray Snapper settle onto the reef from May through August, and Gag Grouper peak October through December. Bottom fishing over the structure with live pinfish or live grunts targets Gag Grouper, and live fiddler crabs or sand fleas work for Sheepshead, while slow trolling live threadfin herring or live scaled sardines around the reef draws King Mackerel.
