About Hookers Point
Hookers Point is a sand-bottom drop-off in the Tampa Bay region, where the bottom falls from 15 to 45 feet along a mid-exposure edge. Sheepshead peak from January through March, while Spotted Seatrout run strongest in March–April and again in October–November. Spanish Mackerel push through from March to May and return in September–October. Common Snook peak April through June, Gray Snapper hold from May through August, and Red Drum close out the summer in August–September. Bottom fishing the deeper edge with live shrimp, live fiddler crabs, or knocker rigs targets Sheepshead and Gray Snapper, and casting small spoons or metal jigs along the shallower lip intercepts passing Spanish Mackerel.
