About Marys Lake Pass Hump
Marys Lake Pass Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from 25 feet of water in the exposed outer reaches of the Tampa Bay region off St. Petersburg, Florida. Gray Snapper hold tight to the structure from May through August, and Sheepshead stack on the rock from January through March. Spotted Seatrout move through in March–April and again in October–November, Common Snook peak from April to June, Red Drum arrive in August and September, and Spanish Mackerel run in March–May and September–October. Bottom fishing with live shrimp or live pilchards on knocker rigs works the pinnacle for snapper, while sheepshead anglers drop live fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or fiddler crab-tipped jigs straight onto the rock. Over the hump, casting small spoons and metal jigs targets passing mackerel, and live scaled sardines or live pinfish draw snook and redfish off the structure.
