About Pass-a-Grille Beach

Pass-a-Grille Beach is a Gulf-facing sand beach at the southern tip of St. Petersburg's barrier island, inside the Tampa Bay region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Common Snook peak here from April through June, while Spanish Mackerel run strongest in March through May and again in September and October. Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April and return in October and November, and Red Drum reach their high point in August and September. Snook anglers work the beach with live scaled sardines, live pinfish, and live shrimp, and switch to paddle tail swimbaits or soft plastic jerkbaits when casting artificials along the surf line. Passing schools of Spanish Mackerel draw casts with small spoons, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs, and Red Drum take live shrimp or cut mullet fished on the bottom.
