About St. Pete Pier Fishing Deck
The St. Pete Pier Fishing Deck is a public fishing pier on the St. Petersburg waterfront, set within the Tampa Bay region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Sheepshead peak from January through March, Spanish mackerel run March through May and again September through October, common snook peak April through June, gray snapper peak May through August, and red drum peak August through September. Bottom fishing around the pier structure produces sheepshead on live fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp, while gray snapper respond to live shrimp, live pilchards, and knocker rigs fished tight to the same structure. Spanish mackerel draw anglers casting small spoons, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs from the deck during their spring and fall windows. Live bait fishing drives the snook and red drum action, with live scaled sardines and live pinfish for snook and live shrimp, live pilchards, and cut mullet for reds.
