About R.E. Olds Park Pier
R.E. Olds Park Pier is a public fishing pier on the upper reaches of Tampa Bay, giving shore-bound anglers access to the bay's inshore waters. Spotted seatrout peak in March–April and again in October–November, while common snook move through from April to June and red drum hold strongest from August through October. Sheepshead dominate the cooler months from January to March, Spanish mackerel run in March–May and September–October, and gray snapper fill the summer window from May through August. Bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas tight to the pier pilings targets sheepshead in winter, and the same approach with live shrimp or live pinfish produces gray snapper in summer. When Spanish mackerel and trout push within casting range, silver spoons, small jigs, and popping corks rigged with live shrimp cover the water around the pier efficiently.
