Hump 0.7 km S of Walrus Rocks is a rocky pinnacle off Brookings, Oregon, rising through outer, exposed water from 0 to 45 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from January through March, alongside aggregate rockfish that fish best April through September and Pacific halibut from April into August. Chinook and coho salmon move through the area from May through October, and the rock also supports cabezon, Pacific cod, and leopard shark. Anglers work the shallow rock with jigging using metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod and rockfish, while halibut respond to drift fishing with herring, squid, or octopus over the surrounding bottom. Salmon are typically taken by trolling cut-plug herring, spoons, or flashers with hoochies through the water above the pinnacle.
