Mussel Rock is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Brookings, Oregon, where the bottom falls from roughly 330 to 1,300 feet. The structure holds Rockfish through the aggregate season, peaking April to September, alongside Lingcod that reach their peak from January to March. Pacific Halibut move onto the drop from April to August, while Chinook and Coho Salmon run the surrounding water from May to October. Anglers work the rock for Lingcod and Rockfish with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, and drift herring, squid, or salmon bellies for Halibut over deeper ground. Salmon come to trolling with cut-plug herring, spoons, and flashers with hoochies across the exposed edge.
