Cat and Kittens Rock is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Charleston, Oregon, where the bottom falls through 50 to 70 feet of water. The structure holds a strong summer salmon run, with Chinook and Coho both peaking from June through September, alongside Black Rockfish over the same stretch and Blue Rockfish from April through August. Chinook and Coho respond to trolling with cut-plug herring, whole herring, trolling spoons, and hoochies, while mooching cut-plug herring works the same fish closer to the rock. Lingcod turn on over winter, peaking from January through March and again in December, and take metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked tight to the rock, with live greenling or live rockfish as an alternative. Pacific Halibut move through from May to September and hold near the base of the drop-off, where drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid covers the deeper edge.
