About Cape Meares Hump

Cape Meares Hump is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Garibaldi, Oregon, rising through water that runs 55 to 100 feet deep. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through March, alongside a mix of rockfish including yelloweye, canary, vermilion, and widow. Jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or lead-head jigs with grub tails works the rock for lingcod, while live greenling and herring serve as supporting options. Pacific halibut move through the area from March into August and take drifted herring, salmon belly, octopus, or squid across the deeper edges of the pinnacle. Chinook salmon show from June through September and coho from June through October, both taken by trolling herring, spoons, or flashers over the same ground.
