Double Rock sits off Gold Beach, Oregon, a rocky drop-off in 50 to 65 feet of water where mid-exposure structure holds fish along the seabed edge. Pacific Halibut run strongest from March through August, while Lingcod peak in the colder window of January and February, and Chinook Salmon fill the summer stretch from July through September, followed by Coho from June into October. Anglers work the drop-off for halibut with drift fishing using herring, salmon bellies, squid, or leadhead jigs, and switch to jigging metal jigs and swimbaits when the bite calls for it. Lingcod hold tight to the rock bottom and respond to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits, live greenling or rockfish fished on the structure, or drifting whole squid and cut bait. Salmon come to trolling passes with cut-plug herring, whole anchovy, trolling spoons, and flashers, with mooching whole or cut-plug herring a productive alternative over the same depths.
