STRUCTURE

Outer Exposed

Northwest Rock is an outer-exposed sand flat off Gold Beach, Oregon, sitting in 75 to 100 feet of water. The open bottom holds Lingcod, which peak in January and February, alongside a mix of rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish through the year. Pacific Halibut move across the flat from March through August, while Chinook Salmon show from July into September and Coho run June through October. Anglers work the depth with jigging for lingcod using metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, and drift fishing for halibut with herring, salmon bellies, and squid over the sand. Salmon are targeted by trolling cut-plug herring, whole anchovy, and flashers through the water column above the flat.
