Pyramid Rock is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Gold Beach, Oregon, where the bottom falls through 30 to 40 feet over broken rock structure. The spot holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from July through September and Coho Salmon from June through October, both worked most effectively by trolling cut-plug herring, trolling spoons, and flashers along the edge. Pacific Halibut move through from March into August and respond to drift fishing with herring, salmon bellies, or squid over the rock. Lingcod concentrate in the winter months of January and February, taken by jigging metal jigs and swimbaits close to the structure, with Rockfish holding on the reef year-round. The exposed drop-off keeps bait and predators stacked against the rock, so tactics that track the depth change tend to produce.
