Point Roberts / Reef Point (south) is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 7 near Bellingham, Washington, where the bottom falls from around 30 feet into deeper water near 150 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut from April through August and Lingcod across two windows, November through February and March through June, while Chinook Salmon run June through September and Coho follow June through October. Halibut come to drifting herring, squid, salmon bellies, or octopus over the deeper edges, and jigging leadhead jigs with swimbaits or metal jigs works the rock for Lingcod and the Black Rockfish that gather here June through August. Salmon fishing centers on downrigger trolling whole herring, spoons, hoochies, and flashers for Chinook, with trolling flashers and cut-plug herring for Coho along the same edges. The rocky exposure also supports Yellowtail Rockfish and Pacific Cod through the season.
