Commencement Bay Hump is a rocky pinnacle in the inner protected waters off Gig Harbor, Washington, within DFO subarea 11, rising through depths of 170 to 430 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside Pacific Halibut in their March-through-July window and Black Rockfish that stay active year-round. Chinook Salmon move through from June to September, followed by Coho from July into October, while Pacific Cod and Sablefish round out the bottom fishery. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, and target Halibut along the deeper rock with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or herring. Salmon over the same water respond to trolling with flashers, hoochies, trolling spoons, and cut-plug herring.
