Hump 2.1 km S of Quillayute Needles is an exposed offshore pinnacle rising from rocky bottom off La Push, Washington, with structure spanning 30 to 180 feet. The rock draws lingcod, which peak from February through April and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the high points. Pacific halibut hold on the surrounding deeper edges from April through August, taken by drift fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid. Black rockfish stack up over the pinnacle from June through September and hit metal jigs and leadhead jigs worked through the water column. Chinook and coho salmon move through the exposed outer water from spring into fall, with trolling flashers, spoons, hoochies, and whole or cut-plug herring covering ground across the changing tide.
