The Hump 1.2 km N of Umatilla Reef is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Neah Bay, Washington, with depths ranging from 25 to 140 feet. This structure holds lingcod, which peak from March through May, alongside Pacific halibut that concentrate from April into July and a mix of canary, quillback, and copper rockfish. Chinook salmon move through from April to August and coho follow from May into September, while Pacific cod hold near the rock through the winter months of January to March. Anglers work the pinnacle for lingcod with metal jigs and swimbaits or lead-head jigs tipped with plastic, dropping onto the rocky slopes and edges where fish stage. Halibut respond to drift jigging with leadhead and metal jigs across the deeper margins, and salmon are taken by trolling whole herring, spoons, and flashers over the same broken ground.
