Allen Bank is an inner, protected sand flat in Seattle's Puget Sound waters, sitting within Marine Area 10 at depths of 15 to 40 feet. The flat holds Pacific Halibut through its March to August peak, along with Lingcod that show strongest in January and again from February through April, plus English Sole, Bank Rockfish, and Pacific Cod. Chinook Salmon move through from July to September and Coho from June to October, with trolling cut-plug herring, flashers, and hoochies working the water column over the sand. Halibut anglers drift jig metal jigs and leadhead jigs with plastic across the flat, or fish whole herring and squid on the bottom. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and to drift fishing large soft plastics over the same shallow sand.
