Blakely Rock is a rock-bottom flat off Seattle in Marine Area 10, sitting in outer, exposed water across a depth range of 20 to 60 feet. The rocky structure holds Lingcod, which peak in January and again from February through April, along with Black Rockfish that stay active nearly year-round from January through November. Salmon move through on their own schedule, with Chinook peaking July through September and Coho running June through October, while Pacific Halibut fill the spring and summer window from March through August. Anglers work the rock for Lingcod with jigging, running metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs, and cover the same structure for Black Rockfish using metal jigs, leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and soft plastics. For salmon over this exposed flat, trolling with cut-plug herring, flashers with hoochies, or trolling spoons matches the passing fish, and drift jigging with metal or leadhead jigs works the bottom for halibut through the peak months.
