Elliott Bay Fishing Pier, known as Pier 86, is a public fishing pier on Seattle's waterfront within DFO subarea 10. The pier draws anglers targeting Coho Salmon from June through October and Chinook Salmon from July through September, while Rockfish hold along the structure year-round. Trolling is the primary approach for both salmon runs, with flashers, hoochies, trolling spoons, and cut-plug herring working through the peak months, and mooching with cut-plug or whole herring covering the supporting water. Rockfish respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and shrimp flies close to the pier's pilings and submerged structure. Casting off the pier lets anglers cover multiple depths without a boat, making it a consistent option through the salmon season and the steady rockfish presence.
