Fourmile Rock is a rocky drop-off in Seattle's Puget Sound, sitting in DFO subarea 10 with mid-range exposure and depths that run from 330 to 1,320 feet. The structure draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from July through September and Coho Salmon across a long window from June into October, with both species targeted by trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, flashers with hoochies, and trolling spoons, or by mooching herring along the edge. Lingcod hold to the rock through winter and into spring, peaking in January and again from February through April, and respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs. Pacific Halibut work the deeper bottom from March through August, taken on drift jigging with metal jigs and herring or bait fished on the bottom with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, and squid. Black Rockfish stay active through most of the year over the same rock, hitting metal jigs, leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and soft plastics.
