Tyee Shoal is a mid-exposure sand flat in Seattle's Marine Area 10, running 15 to 40 feet deep off the waters near West Seattle. Pacific Halibut hold over the flat from March through August, while Lingcod peak in January and again from February through April, and both respond to drift jigging with metal jigs or leadhead jigs. Chinook Salmon move through from July into September and Coho follow from June through October, with trolling cut-plug herring, flashers, and spoons the dominant approach over open sand. Dungeness Crab fill in the same summer window, July through September, taken in crab pots baited with fish carcasses or chicken. English Sole, Rock Sole, Pollock, and Pacific Cod round out the mix across the shallow bottom.
