West Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in Seattle's DFO subarea 10, where the bottom falls from around 260 to 660 feet along Puget Sound's central shoreline. Chinook Salmon move through from July to September and Coho Salmon hold from June to October, with trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, or flashers with hoochies covering the water column and mooching working the same baits on a tide. The rocky structure supports Lingcod, peaking in January and again from February to April, best reached by jigging metal jigs or leadhead jigs with swimbaits over the edge. Pacific Halibut show from March to August across the deeper contours, where drift jigging metal jigs or bottom bait such as whole herring and squid reaches fish holding on the drop. Black Rockfish stack near the rock through most of the year, taking metal jigs, swimbaits, and soft plastics.
