Baldwin Point is a protected inner-water drop-off in Tacoma's DFO subarea 13, where mixed bottom structure falls from roughly 260 to 660 feet. The site draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through September and Coho Salmon from July through October, with trolling cut-plug herring, flashers, spoons, and hoochies working the salmon along the edge, and mooching or metal jigs filling in as supporting tactics. Lingcod hold on the mixed bottom and structure through their March to June peak, taken on metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or live greenling and herring. Pacific Halibut come through from March into August, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs and plastic swimbaits, herring, or squid covers the deeper reaches. Black Rockfish stay available year-round over the same structure and respond to jigging metal jigs and swimbaits, with the sharp depth change making tide-driven current a key factor in positioning drifts.
