I’ve been using ReelCaster for about a month and I love it! Having all the conditions listed together is really handy and makes deciding when to go a no brainer instead of checking multiple apps and sites to get wind, current, sea conditions and tides. I highly recommend ReelCaster!

ReelCaster has completely changed how I plan my fishing trips. It brings together tides, currents, wind, swell, and water temperature in one place, then pinpoints the best times and locations to fish. It saves me time and gives me real confidence I’m on the water when conditions are ideal.

ReelCaster was very helpful in helping me figure out where and when to fish! I was lucky enough to catch a 7 lb Coho right off the beach. The info that the app provided was really helpful and it saved me the trouble of looking at multiple sources to figure out tides, weather, and regulations.

STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Mid

Hyde Point is a mixed-bottom drop-off in Tacoma, Washington, within DFO subarea 13, where depths fall from roughly 260 to 660 feet along a mid-exposure ledge. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their June to September peak and Coho Salmon from July into October, with anglers working trolling spoons, flashers, hoochies, and cut-plug herring across the drop, or switching to mooching and metal jigs when fish sit deeper. Lingcod stack on the harder edges of the mixed bottom from March through June, taken on metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or live greenling and herring fished tight to structure. Black Rockfish are present year-round and respond to metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits, while Pacific Halibut move through from March to August and come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits or bait fished on spreader bars. The depth range and sloping contour make this a spot where matching your presentation to where fish are holding on the drop matters more than covering water.
