Dash Point Pier extends into Puget Sound at Tacoma, Washington, within DFO subarea 11, offering shore-based access over open saltwater. The pier fishes strongest for salmon through summer and fall, with Chinook peaking June through September, Coho from July through October, Pink Salmon July through September, and Chum arriving September through December. Anglers work these runs by trolling spoons, hoochies, flashers, and cut-plug herring, or by jigging metal jigs and mooching cut-plug and whole herring as fish move within casting range. Bottom species hold here as well, including Lingcod peaking March through June and Black Rockfish that stay active year-round, both taken on metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits. Pacific Halibut move through from March into August and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, herring, or squid.
