Dash Point State Park Beach sits along the shoreline of Tacoma, Washington, within DFO subarea 11, offering shore-based access to the salmon runs of Puget Sound. The beach targets three salmon species through the season: Pink Salmon peak from July through September, Coho Salmon run from July into October, and Chum Salmon arrive later, peaking September through December. Trolling drives the fishery here, working pink hoochies, trolling spoons, dodgers, and flashers for pinks, and switching to spoons, hoochies, and cut-plug herring as Coho move through. As Chum stack up in the fall, anglers run flasher-and-hoochie setups and trolling spoons. Jigging with metal jigs and mooching cut-plug herring both work as supporting tactics across all three species when fish hold close.
