Redondo Trench is an inner-protected drop-off in Tacoma, Washington, where a mud bottom falls away through depths of 150 to 600 feet. The structure holds three salmon runs across the year: Chinook peak from June through September, Coho from July through October, and Chum from September through December. Trolling dominates here, working cut-plug herring, flashers with hoochies, and trolling spoons along the edge of the drop-off. Anglers also mooch cut-plug or whole herring and jig metal or leadhead jigs down the slope, matching the depth to where fish stage over the trench. The protected water keeps presentations steady as tides move bait along the contour.
