Ruston Way Shoreline, anchored by the Old Town Dock in Tacoma, Washington, is a public dock fishery along the urban waterfront in DFO subarea 11. The dock draws returning salmon within casting range, with Coho peaking July through October, Pink running July through September, and Chum building from September into December. Anglers working from the dock lean on jigging with metal jigs for all three species, dropping pink leadhead jigs when Pinks are thick. Mooching cut-plug or whole herring off the structure covers Coho and Chum through their overlapping windows. Fishing the dock around tide changes keeps bait moving past the pilings as salmon track the shoreline.
