Tacoma Narrows is a mixed-bottom corridor near Tacoma, Washington, running through mid-exposure water from about 30 to 180 feet deep. The current-driven channel holds Lingcod, which peak from March through June, and Cabezon, which stay active across a long window from June into March. Chinook Salmon move through from June to September, while Rockfish concentrate from April to September. Anglers work the deeper structure with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and soft plastic swimbaits for Lingcod and Cabezon, and drop metal jigs or shrimp flies vertically for Rockfish. Chinook are targeted by trolling cut-plug herring, flashers, and hoochies through the corridor, timing passes to the strong tidal flow that funnels bait along the bottom.
