April Point sits off Campbell River, British Columbia, where a rock drop-off falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet along a mid-exposure stretch of water. Chinook Salmon peak from June through August and respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, and hootchies, while Coho Salmon hold from May through September and take the same trolled spoons and hootchies. Pacific Halibut work the deeper bottom from April through September, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits covers the rock structure effectively. Lingcod stack over the same drop-off with peaks in May through June and again in August through September, taken on metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits worked close to the rock. The broken bottom also holds Canary and Copper Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish across the deeper contours.
