Outer Exposed

Entrance Bank is an outer-exposed flat off Campbell River, British Columbia, where mixed bottom holds fish across depths of 120 to 240 feet. Pacific halibut are the headline draw from April through September, sharing the ground with lingcod that peak in May and June and again from August into September, alongside resident Pacific cod, sablefish, pollock, and English sole. Chinook salmon move through from June to August and coho from May to September, keeping the water productive well beyond the bottomfish. Anglers work the flat's depth range with drift jigging for halibut using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs, and switch to bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid when the drift slows. Lingcod respond to metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits over the mixed bottom, while salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies through the same water.
