STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Grouse Island sits off Campbell River in outer-exposed water, where a mixed-bottom drop-off falls through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon draw anglers from June through August, with Coho Salmon running from May into September and Pacific Halibut holding along the structure from April through September. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies works the salmon along the ledge, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs targets halibut on the deeper mixed bottom. Lingcod concentrate over the same structure, peaking in May and June and again from August through September, and respond to metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits. Copper Rockfish, Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Pacific Ocean Perch round out the catch across the drop-off's varied depths.
