STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Middle Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Campbell River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away from roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, with Pacific Halibut moving through April to September and Lingcod strongest in May and June and again from August into September. Anglers work the salmon by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the edge, or switch to mooching cut-plug herring where the current concentrates fish over the break. For Halibut, drift jigging leadhead jigs and swimbaits across the deeper flats accounts for most fish, while Lingcod hold tight to the rock and take metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits worked close to the bottom. Pacific Cod, Canary Rockfish, Silvergray Rockfish, and Pacific Whiting also occupy the same deep, exposed structure.
