About Orange Point Hump

Orange Point Hump is a rock pinnacle rising off Campbell River in DFO subarea 13-3, with mid-exposure structure and depths ranging from 15 to 120 feet. Lingcod hold along the rock through their peak windows in May and June and again from August into September, taking metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs worked close to the pinnacle, or whole herring, live greenling, and octopus fished on the bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August, targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies across the structure. Coho Salmon run a longer window from May through September and respond to trolled spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring behind flashers. The rocky terrain also holds Canary, Darkblotched, and Rougheye Rockfish along with Sablefish across the deeper end of the depth range.
