About Warspite Rock Hump

Warspite Rock Hump is a rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-3 off Campbell River, rising from an outer, exposed stretch of water where depths run 160 to 210 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak May through June and again August through September, alongside Pacific Cod, Sablefish, Redstripe Rockfish, and Rougheye Rockfish drawn to the broken rock and steep relief. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, working the currents that sweep the pinnacle. Anglers targeting Lingcod jig the rock with metal jigs, leadhead jigs and swimbaits, or bucktail jigs, while bait fishing with whole herring, live greenling, or octopus produces over the deeper edges. For the salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies covers water above the structure, and jigging with metal jigs works the same depths when fish hold tight to the hump.
